Five for Friday 10.08.10

This was one busy week that had a lot of things done in a short amount

of time as I was wrapping things up before vacation, my first full vacation in two years. While I do enjoy the changing leaves and brisk air of New England, I would rather some sun and surf to relax with a bucket of ice cold ones. I have got a team of awesome guest posters lined up and will give the full schedule on Monday that you’ll want to keep tabs on. So without further adieu, here is this week’s edition of Five for Friday.

Social Media Humanization – This article is a great read on humanizing social media. It also brings up the old debate as to whether accounts should be a logo or people. I am on the side of keeping things branded for many reasons including talent poaching; common voice and keeping personal and professional separate. What do you think?

Facebook spammer fined $1 billion – This one is just going to get a wow. Look at the picture attached to the site and tell me if you think the guy can pay the fine. Not only is he a shady looking guy, but he has no regrets – and this is why I hate SPAM and scam artists.

spammer of the week episode 1: ad2me – I really hope this becomes a regular feature on Danny Brown’s blog. It really catches the essence of the spam that we are inundated with on a regular basis. Social network spam is the worst. Be sure to check out the video at the end – spoiler contains spam being eaten and a block of wood being broken.

Facebook announcement: What changes mean – This is a great interview with C.C. Chapman with the Boston’s Fox25 about the new changes to Facebook that were announced on Wednesday. What do you think about the changes?

A Social Media Lesson from Baseball – Are you a fan of baseball? Are you a fan of social media? If so check out this piece from Heather Whaling who notes that all good things are built not bought.
