We Are…Dumb on Twitter, Facebook Ads & Jack

Man this is one of my favorite weeks of the year – NFL Training Camps are now open. I am sure at least a few of you are as excited as I am, and we all know baseball is boring. Aside from that, the week slogged by and now I am ready for the weekend how about you? Hopefully you all have some good plans and I look forward to reconnecting next week. So enjoy this week’s edition of Five for Friday.

Is Facebook the anti-ROI for brands? – this is a pretty good read from Nichole Kelly over on Social Media Explorer. If you manage a brand’s page you have probably asked yourself the same question and should give it a read.

Jack Daniel’s Sends the Most Polite Cease-and-Desist Letter Ever – in a world where everyone is suing each other for patent infringements, it is good to see when a brand sends a polite cease and desist letter. Kudos to the team over at Jack Daniel’s for having a heart and generosity.

Facebook Advertisers Find Better Payoff with Sponsored Stories – this report does not shock me at all. Facebook is looking to keep people on their platform and knows that people trust other people. So what better way to keep folks coming to brand pages than stories featuring their friends?

Some People Still Don’t Understand What Joe Paterno Did Wrong – in this week’s edition of the Internet making me sad for humanity, we get to see the Tweets from Penn State supporters lashing out at the NCAA over their sanctions to the university. I understand blind devotion, but tweeting out comments like these?

Greek athlete ousted from Olympic Games for Twitter comment – since the Olympics start today, I wanted to show that not only Americans are dumb on Twitter…

Man, that Greek athlete…I just can even imagine being her right now. Way to blow years of training on such a spectacularly horrible tweet.
