Social Media Predicts Patriots, Giants Super Bowl

During the NFL season and the last two weeks of the playoffs, we’ve picked the winners of each week’s match-ups using social media buzz. The data is pulled

2011-12 AFC Championship Logousing Lithium Social Media Monitoring and plugged into a series of formula (more here) with assigned points. While it may seem odd, the season saw these formulas produce a 132-123 mark and a 4-4 showing in the playoffs. The Wild Card round was 3-1, while the Divisional round ended up 1-3. Below are this week’s predictions (click on any team to see their full week’s data):

NFC Championship LogoBaltimore, 6, New England 10

New York Giants 10, San Francisco 6

Do you think that the social Web’s prediction of the G-Men and Patriots will happen? Or do you think that another team will head to Indianapolis for a shot at the Lombardi Trophy?

I for one am hoping for a Thanksgiving Day rematch of the Ravens and the ‘Niners.

@ChristaMarzan That is what I am pulling for. But have to do picks based on numbers and formulas. Who is your team?

@jeffespo Ravens! Actually either the Ravens or the 49ers, really anyone but the Giants and/or the Patriots. You’re all for the Ravens, right?

@jeffespo Patriots/Niners, Patriots win big, IMHO.

  10. […] is ready for some football this weekend? I know I am and am hoping that at least one of my social media NFL predictions is wrong and that the Ravens earn a berth in the Super Bowl. Who are you pulling for this weekend? […]

@kprochnow if you look at what my gut pick was, we’d have a Turkey Day rematch but for the picks I go on the numbers

@jeffespo I was dead certain #49ers would beat Saints. No such feeling or certainty vs. #Giants. On a slick field…

@jeffespo I know who you want to win on Sunday. I wish it wasn’t true, but my son, Ben, is rooting for the Ravens as well. Not me. Go Pats!

@Mike_BostonMBA Yes, definitely. Patriots versus Giants on 2/5/12 would be ideal.
